Chocolate Labrador Retriever Violet is Feeding Puppies

Chocolate Labrador Retriever Violet is feeding puppies

This is Violet’s third litter. Being a wonderful chocolate Labrador, she is a very sweet dog. Violet isn’t hyperactive, she is very affectionate and loyal. Violet loves to be right next to you and get attention, nevertheless, she is not a barker.

In the meantime, she loves to get in with her puppies and take care of them. While Violet is feeding puppies, we are feeding her Purina Puppy Chow. That is a little more high calorie food so she has energy to feed all her ten puppies. When the puppies are very little she lays down all day long with them, but then as the puppies get older, the mama-dog stands up and lets all her puppies eat.

New Puppy, Arriving Home and Good Care

Taking care of a new puppy that will grow into a beautiful adult dog involves much more than buying dog food and puppy toys. Please, keep in mind that you are now your puppy’s family, you are a leader, a teacher and you are your puppy’s ultimate guide. In a dog family, there is always a pack leader or we can say the alpha dog. A new puppy looks to the leader for direction in every aspect of their life and behavior.

The puppy’s boss navigates them to be an acceptable member of the family. From day one, you are that supreme boss, the alpha, the leader, and your puppy expects you to teach it how to be a suitable member of your family. If you do not accept this responsibility, at first, your puppy will lose faith in you. Second, your puppy will have to figure out on its own what is okay and what isn’t. As a consequence, your puppy may grow into a kind of self-thought alpha dog, following its own desires.

Thus, if you guide and correct your puppy right from the start, you’ll end up with a dream dog that not just understands you but somehow miraculously anticipates your every wish and command.

Forming good habits early in life is easier and more gentle than breaking bad habits in an older puppy.

New litter of chocolate Labrador Retriever puppies has 4 boys

Our New litter of chocolate Labrador Retriever puppies has 4 boys.

These are the chocolate Labrador Retriever puppy boys. We have four little boys here in this Dutch and Violet litter. I think there are very little differences between boys and girls. They have very similar personalities. The boys do get a little bigger. There will probably be ten to twenty pounds difference. We certainly suggest spaying and neutering as it will increase chocolate Labrador Retriever puppies life span. It eliminates some of the problems that people have with dog’s health issues. So, when you spay and neuter, the differences in personality in the puppy boy and puppy girl are very little. I don’t think it matters at all which sex you choose.

I think they are both wonderful!

Chocolate Labrador Retriever Puppies are Eating at 4 weeks

Our Chocolate Labrador Retriever puppies are about four weeks old.

This was their first time eating solid food. There are ten of them in the litter, to help their mother we supplement them with puppy food. Our puppies were eating goat milk and yogurt, but I just added puppy food, so they can learn how to start eating dog food. For our readers, I would suggest to start supplementing with goat milk at about 3 weeks. Then we put yogurt into goat milk and then we add Pedigree Puppy can food. That is what our puppies are eating right now.

What else is particular about this age besides the feeding? At four weeks old the Chocolate Labrador Retriever puppies are starting to play. They don’t last too long, they are just babies, they don’t play to long, but they are starting to play with each other. The puppies can recognize my voice, I am a mom to them. Whenever I am speaking they start to wag their tails and want to get on me. At this age the puppies are mostly sleeping… eating, sleeping and just a little bit of playing.
